The 2008 Summer tax bill is due on September 1, 2008. The 2008 Winter tax bill will be levied on December 1, 2008 and due on March, 2, 2008.

As part of its budget reconciliation plan, the State legislature passed a law in 2004 requiring the county governments to levy their operating taxes in July instead of December. The legislation is phased in over three years; one third was levied in July 2005, two thirds were levied in July 2006, and the full millage will be levied in July 2007.

Taxpayers who escrow their mortgage payments may wish to discuss the impact of this legislation with their mortgage companies.
