Requirements to become a Firefighter EMT

Candidates must:

  • be a minimum of 18 years old
  • have a high school diploma or GED Certificate
  • have a valid Michigan drivers license
  • live and/or work within 1.5 miles of the Fire Station
  • be in acceptable physical condition

    Benefits:

    STEPS FOR HIRING:

  • Complete application available from City Clerk's Office
  • Written Test
  • Oral Interview
  • Background check, driving record check
  • Medical Examination
  • Orientation, Training, issuance of equipment
  • Candidate joins department as a probationary firefighter
  • Candidate attends all training, alarms and department activities
  • Probationary Firefighter receives a twelve month review
  • Upon successful completion of probation, a firefighter will be placed on regular status
